Crop and Export Report 2020, Week 9

EDITORIAL

The harvest has developed normally in the south of the country due to good weather conditions and no rains. However, by the end of next week rains are forecasted affecting mainly Los Rios and Los Lagos regions.

Regarding exports, shipments of week 8 reached 2,509 tons, a similar volume than last year. However, the total accumulated is lower with 106,031 tons shipped to date (week 8), 2% less than in 2018/19. Considering the above, at this point in the season its unlikely that the total shipments for 2019/20 will exceed last season volumes, when 111,112 tons were exported.

Organic blueberries are still in season, with 300 tons shipped during week 8 and a total of 15,078 tons exported, 15% more than in 2018/19.

Frozen blueberries meanwhile, maintain a high level of stocks in the U.S. with 108,946 tons at January 31th, 34% more than in the same month of 2019. On the other hand, shipments of frozen blueberries from Chile reached 3,347 tons in January, 26% more than in 2019.
