The harvests are coming to an end in the south central zone, leaving the last orchards with late varieties with very limited volumes. The southern zone also shows decreasing volumes and, as it is normal for this time of the season, the harvest labors were interrupted by showers in the middle of this week (week 07).
During week 06, everything developed normally without interruptions due to weather conditions. With this, the exports reached 3,902 tons that week and the accumulated volumes already reached 108,669 tons. This is a 97% advance compared to the estimate and 4.7% more than the previous season. Of this total, 52% of the volumes were shipped to North America, 36% to Europe and 11% to the Far East, while in terms of growth, the shipments to North America have increased by 8% compared to 2019/20 and Europe by 14%, on the contrary the Far East has decreased by 27%.
Much of the increase in North America is due to organic blueberries. Until week 06, the shipments of this type of blueberries have experienced a growth of 28% to this market, which represents 78% of the total shipments from Chile, that already account for 18,620 tons (25% more than in 2019/20), all this was favored by the Systems approach that came into force this season for the Ñuble and Biobio regions. The European market has also shown growth in organic blueberries, with 17% more this season.
